This chart is the canonical reference for the published non-Latin Arabic Morse mapping adopted by this site: 28 base Arabic letters plus the separate Hamza extension ء = .. It is not an ITU-defined Arabic alphabet. Use the Arabic Morse code translator to encode, decode, and play complete messages.

Canonical Letters And Decoding

The 28 unmodified modern Arabic letters in the chart are canonical output characters. Hamza is an additional entry rather than a 29th base letter. Decoding selects the chart character for each complete Morse token and does not apply Arabic spelling rules afterward.

This matters for seated Hamza. .-- . decodes canonically as وء, and .. . as يء; the decoder does not recombine those sequences into ؤ or ئ. Likewise, text that began as أ, إ, آ, or ٱ decodes with canonical ا.

Canonical Digits And Punctuation

The chart displays Arabic-Indic digits ٠-٩ as the canonical digit characters. ASCII 0-9 are input aliases for the same signals, but decoding returns Arabic-Indic digits.

Arabic ،, ؟, and ؛ are the canonical comma, question mark, and semicolon; ASCII ,, ?, and ; are accepted aliases. The remaining supported punctuation and symbols are . ' ! / ( ) & : = + - _ " $ @. Entries explicitly listed in ITU-R M.1677-1 use those published values; the other common symbols are additional mappings retained by this site.

Input Aliases And Lossy Normalization

Before lookup, the site normalizes supported input as follows:

Compatible Arabic presentation forms are converted to underlying Unicode characters where possible. For example, مسؤول expands ؤ to وء and encodes as -- ... .-- . .-- .-... See the Arabic Morse code translator for examples of unchanged letters and Alef and harakat normalization.

These transformations are intentionally lossy. A Morse round trip preserves the canonical character sequence, not every typographic or orthographic distinction in the source.

Unsupported Input

This alphabet does not transliterate Latin text: salam is invalid Arabic-mode input. Persian letters پ, چ, ژ, and گ are not part of the adopted 28-letter table. Quranic annotation signs and other characters from the wider Arabic script are unsupported rather than guessed. Punctuation absent from the supported list is rejected as well.

Text Direction And Token Order

Arabic characters are displayed right to left, while Morse code is displayed left to right in logical transmission order. Spaces separate character tokens and / separates words. The first canonical character after normalization determines the first Morse token; neither the chart nor the translator reverses tokens to imitate visual RTL order.

Source And Standard Status

The Arabic letter table is a published non-Latin Morse mapping adopted by this site, including a separate Hamza extension. The site does not label it an ITU Arabic alphabet. ICAO SATTS and Unicode material help distinguish and describe Arabic characters and marks, but neither defines these Morse assignments. ITU-R M.1677-1 is used for digits, timing and operating conventions, and only the punctuation it explicitly lists. The remaining common symbols are additional site mappings.
