How Greek Morse Code Works
This tool uses this site's adopted mapping for the 24 modern Greek letters. It is an educational mapping, not an ITU International Morse standard.
Convert Greek Text To Morse
Enter Greek text to create a Morse sequence. For example, ΓΕΙΑ becomes --. . .. .-, and ΕΛΛΑΔΑ becomes . .-.. .-.. .- -.. .-. The tool encodes the 24 Greek letters, digits, and its supported punctuation.
Decode Greek Morse
Paste or type dots and dashes to read a Greek message. --. . .. .- decodes as ΓΕΙΑ, while ... --- ... decodes as ΣΟΣ. Decoded Greek is always displayed in uppercase, unaccented form.
Accents And Final Sigma
Lowercase, monotonic, and polytonic Greek input is normalized to unaccented uppercase Greek. Final sigma ς becomes Σ. Latin letters are not transliterated.
Greek Question Mark And Punctuation
Greek ;, U+037E, and ? all encode as the question-mark signal ..--... Digits and the supported punctuation listed in the Greek Morse alphabet can be encoded. Greek ano teleia (· or ·) and the Morse semicolon signal -.-.-. are unsupported.

Frequently Asked Questions
The mapping works with modern Greek letters, not Latin transliteration: SOS is not Greek input, whereas ΣΟΣ is valid. This distinction keeps the output tied to the adopted Greek educational mapping.
