Japanese Morse Terminology Design

Decision

Use モールス信号 as the primary search-facing term for the Japanese International Morse and Wabun reference pages. Use モールス符号 where the text refers to the encoded character system, a code table, a standard, or a legal and technical definition.

Rationale

Japanese visitors commonly search for and describe the practical communication method as モールス信号. The existing Japanese tool, card, and phrase pages also consistently use that term, so making it primary on the detail pages preserves site-wide vocabulary and captures general lookup intent.

モールス符号 remains necessary for precision. Japan's Radio Station Operation Regulations label the formal system モールス符号, and the term correctly describes the mapping between characters and dot-dash sequences. The pages should therefore retain it in standards, history, and table-specific explanations rather than replacing it wholesale.

Page Rules

• Use モールス信号 in page titles, meta descriptions, H1 headings, and the chart, usage, history, and FAQ H2 headings.
• Use 一覧表 in titles and headings; use 早見表 only in introductory or descriptive prose.
• Introduce each system as モールス信号（モールス符号） once near the start of the page, then use the term that matches the sentence's meaning.
• Refer to the International system as 国際モールス信号 in search-facing text and 国際モールス符号 in formal-system descriptions.
• Refer to Wabun as 和文モールス信号 in search-facing text and 和文モールス符号 when describing the kana code system, code assignments, or the Japanese regulations.
• Do not duplicate the two terms unnaturally in every heading or sentence. Search engines can associate the terms through the introductory definition, body copy, and authoritative references.

Scope

This decision changes only docs/ja/alphabet/international.md, docs/ja/alphabet/wabun.md, and the corresponding Japanese instructions in docs/superpowers/plans/2026-07-22-morse-alphabet-detail-seo.md. Existing Japanese tool, card, phrase, and navigation copy remains unchanged.

Verification

• The existing structural alphabet-page test continues to pass.
• The production VitePress build continues to pass.
• A manual review confirms each Japanese detail page uses モールス信号 in its search-facing metadata and headings, and モールス符号 only where it conveys the formal coded-system meaning.
